Angela Pressley BA (Hons)

Company director

Want a new creative project for your children to do? Local mother and interior designer has opened her workroom doors in Kings Hill near West Malling, Saturday mornings, in the school holidays and after school, to teach local children how to sew.
The holiday workshops usually consist of 2 sessions of one and a half hours each. All materials and sewing machines are supplied. Angela has an abundance of exciting fabrics to choose from and a vast portfolio of previous projects to provide inspiration. The Saturday club offers on-going tuition for children who wish to progress further. During the sessions Angela encourages your child to be creative whilst they work on fun and imaginative projects, learning the principles of sewing and skills that can translate into craft, fashion and interior designs items. They learn how to set up a machine, learn about what
the machine can do, including different stitch widths and lengths and about pinning, cutting out and sewing from a basic pattern including valuable shortcuts and simple sewing tips and much more! The workshops are intimate and friendly and for children with little or no knowledge. Children will gain self-confidence as they progress through the different projects designed to teach a wide range of techniques and they can take home all their lovely creations as gifts.

Angela has a BA (Hons) in textile design and has over 15 years of experience of working both in the fashion and interior design industries. She has worked for, amongst others, Giorgio Armani, Donna Karan, Designers Guild and Colefax and Fowler. She has experience in teaching both adults and children. Since having her daughters, Angela has established her own interior design business making play tents, bean bags and other gorgeous household must-haves.

Quote from Woman's hour, Radio Four
(3rd February 2009):
Home sewing renaissance

"Sales of haberdashery and sewing machines are soaring, and registration for sewing classes has also dramatically increased. Possibly inspired by TV programmes like Gok’s Fashion Fix and Twiggy’s Frock Exchange, home sewing is enjoying a resurgence in popularity"
